Scire facias

“Scire facias” is a legal term derived from Latin, meaning “to show cause”. It is a writ or order issued by a court that requires a party to appear and explain why a particular judgment or order should not be enforced against them. This term has traditionally been used in common law systems to revive a dormant judgment or to enforce a judgment that has not been satisfied. Essentially, it compels the party against whom it is issued to justify why a certain action should not be taken against them based on the existing legal decision or order.
