The prefix “intra-” indicates something that happens or exists within a specific context, organization, group, or system. It is mostly used to indicate the presence of something within a particular boundary. For example, intramural sports within a school take place within a single institution or organization. Similarly, intravenous refers to the administration of fluids or medication directly into a vein within the body. Intrapersonal communication refers to the process or experiences that occur within an individual’s mind or self. Lastly, an intranet is a private computer network that allows internal communication and sharing of information within an organization.
