Res nullius

“Res nullius” is a Latin term which means “thing of nobody” or “thing belonging to no one”. In legal terms, it refers to the property that is not owned by anyone or not yet appropriated by anyone. In some legal systems, individuals can claim res nullius by following a certain process like occupation or discovery. This concept is often discussed in the context of property rights, especially in cases of international waters, unclaimed territories, or specific types of natural resources.
